Which countries can I calculate?
You can buy a car in Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Japan, South Korea, and China, and register it in Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, and United Arab Emirates.
How are the taxes calculated?
Every tax is calculated according to the official rules of the destination country: the tax law, the current rate tables and the tax authority's depreciation tables. Costs for inspection, registration and number plates are typical amounts that you can adjust in the form.
How accurate is the result?
The results are indicative estimates, not a tax assessment. The final amount is set by the tax authority of the destination country. Transport costs are indicative ranges; a real quote is always better.
Can I calculate the BPM refund when exporting a Dutch car?
Yes. Choose the Netherlands as the country of purchase and another EU country as the destination. Look up the registration number: the calculator takes the gross BPM from the RDW data and works out the remaining BPM with the flat-rate depreciation table.
Who is behind carimportcalculator.com?
It started as a private project in Amsterdam, when the maker wanted to take a car to Spain and couldn't find one place that explained the whole bill. It is an independent tool: there is no importer, dealer or agent behind it.
